Congratulations to our $500 Lawton Design Scholarship winner, Ashley Marlow from Spokane Falls Community College! The Lawton Design Scholarship contest culminated on April 20 with judging of the entries, choosing a winner, and celebrating at the Lawton facility. North Idaho College’s Keren Flores was awarded a second scholarship as the runner-up to the competition.
Three students, Annie Luthrepp from NIC, Bryan Clark from SFCC and Devin Harper from SFCC were all recognized as honorable mentions for their design work.
Again this year we worked with design students at area colleges and universities to educate, network and work with them on designing a professionally printed piece that they can use in their portfolio and Lawton Printing may use as a unique marketing piece. The caliber of work that came from this project was impressive, and the overall experience was a great one for us.
The challenge to students this year was to design and 11″ x 17″ poster that communicated Lawton Printing Services is the only FSC certified printer in the Inland Northwest.
Thank you to: Eastern Washington University, Spokane Falls Community College, North Idaho College; Instructors Travis Masingale, Ginelle Hustrulid, Carl Heidle, June Roys, Greg Stiles and Doug Crabtree; Judges Jessie Weurst, Jules Van Sant and CK Anderson; all of the students who participated. Special thanks to Mohawk Paper Company for co-sponsoring the event with us. After two years of this project, we’ve established a tradition we will proudly carry forward.
